March - The Month So Far

Me, blogging with my 2 sidekicks

March 21, 2017, Tuesday

March is definitely roaring about like a lion in our house.

A few weeks ago, Brian hit a HUGE raccoon while driving home from work on the highway at midnight.  It did quite a bit of damage to his car and took a couple of weeks to have it repaired.  Soon after we got his car back, I had my little incident.

Right now I'm into week 2 without a car after a huge gust of wind blew open the hood and smashed it into the windshield. I felt the Lord's protection that day.  I was in very heavy traffic and not going very fast.  It was very scary, loud, and startling, but I didn't panic at all when it happened.  I was able to calmly and slowly come to a complete stop, put on my flashers, and ease over to the shoulder of the road.  Then I called my husband and that's when I panicked for a second.

He then called AAA and I called the police.  Not only was the windshield smashed, but the hood was wrecked and the body of the car where the hood is attached was all bent.

We have been very blessed to have been able to juggle cars with our son who works mostly from home, and have been able to get by this last month down one car.

The weather has been crazy and we have had a lot of everything.  Snow, wind, sleet, wind, rain, wind, freezing temps, wind, warm temps, wind.  The wind has been crazy.  I don't remember ever having such a windy winter around here.

There is snow up to our eyeballs and temperatures are way below normal, but is sure is beautiful!

I had the joy of my first colonoscopy (the prep was awful). I also had to follow-up my annual mammogram with an ultrasound (good results from both I'm happy to report).

Rey, our black husky hurt her leg during one of the snowstorms and we had to keep her still for a week which is almost impossible with a one-year old husky

Harley was dumbfounded and could not understand why her best friend could not play with her.

And this spring-ahead time thing just seems to get harder as you get older but I do so love the extra hour of sunlight at the end of the day.

Snow, sleet, freezing rain, repeat...

March 26, 2017 Sunday

Cold, sunny, warm, cloudy, cold, rainy...

Today, the snow is melting again, my tulips are breaking through the snow, Rey's leg is fine, I have my beloved Prius back and it looks like a brand new car.  I think we have finally adjusted to the time change.  Brian put the screens in the windows today, and it looks like this week it finally starts to warm up...

...after tonight's severe weather of course - freezing rain from 8pm-10:00am tomorrow.

Enjoy your week friends...spring is coming!

  2. What a month! Full of ups and downs . . . as they all are. Same story here, just with different details. So thankful that HE is faithful!

That is quite the story about the car hood! That nearly puts me in a cold sweat just reading about it.

I have enjoyed my quick visit here this morning at The Long Awaited Home. (Oh, your kitchen! Swoon-worthy!) I must come back when I have more time to nose around. Thanks for visiting me at Thinking About Home (and for sharing your tulip tip!) so that I could meet you. :)
