Snow Day
Is there anything better than an unexpected day off before Christmas. I for one, love that 5:00am phone call. I took these photos just as it started snowing. It's going to snow all day and we're expecting
up to 6 inches. Brian and I spent the morning finishing up our outdoor decor. With the exception of the window boxes, the outside has been decorated for weeks, but it's always fun to tweak it a little.

Decorating for Winter
Happy New Year friends! It has been months since I last blogged here. I have been spending a lot of time over on Instagram where I share daily. I need to add the IG link to my blog, but I need to figure out how to do that. If you want to find me there, look for @thelongawaitedhome.

Christmas 2016 Remembered ~ Part I
Who doesn't want to read a Christmas post in February?
Since I didn't blog at all during Christmas, I thought I would add a few a ton of holiday photos just in case any of you wanted to see them, or at least so I would have them to remember Christmas this past year.
Here are the pups. They are really in their element (and most photogenic) at Christmastime.

Sneak Peek at Our Rustic Christmas Home 2015
Welcome to a little sneak peek into our
~Christmas Home 2015~
It's a little bit country
And it's a little rustic rock n' roll
It's a little bit of cottage and farmhouse
With a little bit of Sweden in its soul
I don't know if it's good or bad
But I know I love it so...

Christmas in the Kitchen
http://www.jenniferrizzo.com/2013/12/show-us-your-holiday-home-linky-party.html
I have finally got some Christmas decorating photos ready.
It has been a while since we had a sunny day on the weekend,
and during the week it is now dark most days when I get home.
Getting photos for my blog is just not easy to do in the winter,
but I managed to get a few (or a ton) on a slightly overcast day
with a few peeks of sun.
Here is my Christmas kitchen...

Good-bye Christmas 2012
Hello again blog.
Somehow, I took an unplanned break.
No, nothing really broke,
I just got busy...
doing nothing.

CHRISTMAS 2012
Christmas morning...
Because we spent the two weekends before Christmas having our family parties,
we decided to have a quiet Christmas
with just our little family.
While I was showering,
my family set the table with my gift.
Dishes and accessories from
Pottery Barn and Target.
I washed all the dishes and set the table for breakfast.
We had Overnight Eggnog French Toast.

Later we had a special Christmas dinner of Filet Mignon, but I didn't take any photos.
Then some friends came over and the kids built Gingerbread houses.
We ended the day by doing something I never thought I would do on Christmas -
going to the movies.
We saw The Hobbit.
I actually enjoyed it.

CHRISTMAS PARTIES, CONCERTS, & SNOW
We had my family's Christmas get together this weekend. The little guy above is my nephew Logan.
He's always on the move, so getting a good photo is not easy. As you can see, I didn't get one.

CHRISTMAS SADNESS
Today I host our annual Family Christmas Party.
This year, it will be different.
Our hearts are heavy
and the tears flow
for the victims of this week's horrible tragedy in Connecticut.
I pray.
But it just doesn't feel like it's enough.
