Gingerbread House aka Pretzel Log Cabin

I found the idea for this pretzel log cabin here -
http://www.worthpinning.com/2012/12/decorated-pretzel-cabins.html

Building the structure took the most time.
Megan and I used a glue gun to hold the pretzels together
and a serrated knife to cut the pretzels.

We made the four sides, each the length of one rod.
The roof was made in 2 pieces,
then extra rods were added underneath the roof to help hold it up.
I wish I had taken a photo of this.
Then we just glued all the sides and the roof together.
It is rather crude, but we impressed ourselves anyway.

We used red, green, and white frosting.
I recommend the Betty Crocker cake icing with the tips included
and I would get 2 cans of white and one each of red and green.
We also used gumdrops, m&m's, red hots, and various sprinkles.

The small gingerbread house (dog house) and Santa are from
Dollar Tree.

  2. I like your Christmas pretzel log cabin. It wouldn't have occurred to me to use the glue gun, nice tip. The mini house it cute too, and you found an attractive and handy way to set extra mugs at your cocoa station. Will keep in mind the Betty Crocker icing. Alexine in MD

  3. Cute, cute, cute. As soon as my little granddaughter gets big enough I'm going to make gingerbread houses every year with her. I've never made one. Guess we'll learn together. I love the pretzel house, and the trim is lovely. I'd like to own a Christmas cottage like that one. :D
