OUR AUTUMN HOME 2012

Autumn in New Hampshire, there is nothing that compares to this!

Next year I'm planting pumpkins - I can't believe how expensive these things are!  I found this wagon at a yard sale for $10 and the sign was on clearance at Cracker Barrel for $6.

I have been trying to conquer this hill all summer.  It was totally overgrown with weeds, poison ivy, and bittersweet.

Here is a before photo from the top (opposite side).

I planted red, orange, yellow, and purple mums.  When they are in bloom this should be stunning.  I started clearing this area in the middle, and I'm working my way out from there.

The long awaited home.  Sunflowers courtesy of the birds.

My sweet hubby picked up this flag.

I love having this shelf on top of the front door.  It is bigger than I thought, and these pumpkins look really small.

I made this wreath.  The wreath itself was half off at Hobby Lobby, but I found their flowers were really expensive, so I headed over to Michaels for the sunflowers.

I just swapped out the flowers in this basket from summer to fall. This is on the mudroom door.

This basket is on the door to Dan's loft.  I just added some fall flowers to this one.

I FOUND this white wicker rocking chair and table on the SIDE OF THE ROAD!

I found the planter at a yardsale for $2.

The blanket ($5), chair cushion ($5), and flowers ($4) are all from Walmart.

Now come on inside.

Not my favorite thing, but I threw it together with some leftover flowers.  I found the twig wreath in the shed and I had the sign for years.

 Into the kitchen

Fall decorating is in full gear inside too.

The kitchen hutch decked out in Fall's finest.

This is just the start.  I will be tweaking it all season.

I'm trying to figure out what works where.

Some cheesy fake flowers.  I eventually cut these up and used them in the outdoor wreaths and baskets.

And replaced them with these fake flowers.

My next door neighbor who has a bed and breakfast gave me loads of hydrangeas to dry.  Aren't they gorgeous!

I added some warmer pillows here.

And here. In addition to some warmer blankets.

Even the television gets a taste of fall.

And of course, fall means back to school.

  1. Everything looks so pretty! That hill does look like a big project. You need some man power...or that's what I'd do. :)

I can't imagine how neat it must be to live where there really is a change of color and season. Happy Fall!

    1. Stacey, You have no idea how BIG this project is. Lol - I love the man power advice. (My hubby has spent a lot of time out on "the hill" with me. We call it "the hill we will die on." Happy Fall to you too!

  3. It all looks beautiful for fall! I love the decorations you put out, and I really like what you did with the mums and pumpkin display outside. My favorite thing though, has to be those precious baby pumpkins lined up above the front door!!! I would love to visit New Hampshire in the fall, or anytime for that matter. I've never been to New England at all!
    Blessings,

  8. You have a great home! I love the exterior! I bet those little pumpkins could be propped on something to give them more impact- maybe clay pots? I know what you mean about pumpkins but they require a lot of sun and space to grow and I don't have it. We bought some this weekend and they were 35cents a pound. I ended up with 88 lbs!!
Yikes! I have to share this link in case you don't know this one. Joan and her husband have spent a great deal of time re-furbishing an old farm house in NH. I have a feeling you will love it! http://fortheloveofahouse.blogspot.com/
