MEGAN'S ROOM REVEAL

This is Megan's sitting room/living room.  We haven't quite figured out what to call it.  Megan is a college student and a nanny to the most adorable 8 month old.   She opted for community college f0r a couple of years to save some dough - then spent it all decorating her new suite - and it is a very "sweet suite" indeed!

Megan just had a birthday.  She is 19.  This will be the last year I have a teenager.

This is making me kinda sad because I have really enjoyed my teenagers - most days.

Anywhoo, this miss decided she wants a big girl room - and she had the cash to do it.  She made all her own decisions, and I only helped a little....really.  She cleaned and painted, made plans and researched online, and she ordered her sofa & rug from Urban Outfitters.  She went back & forth on the sofa - from gray to brown, and finally decided on the brown tweed.  From far away it looks kind of gray, but up close it is brown and white.

The rug is navy and off white.  This rug and the sofa were her inspiration pieces that she designed the rest of the room around.

The rug was on backorder, and finally came in yesterday.  It really pulled the whole look together.

Next she tried to figure out her accent color, she was torn between yellow and orange.  Then she found a fabulous orange and white duvet cover at Urban Outfitters and orange won out.

This is the view into her attic bedroom.  This room is built over the kitchen.  Megan wasn't so sure about this room when we first looked at the house, but now she loves it.  My hubby found an old brown platform bed in the barn and he pieced it together and added some wood here and there, Meg painted it white, and it became the perfect bed for the room.

Megan and I found these cute bedside tableS at TJMaxx.  There was a chip in one, so we got it for half off.  We found the lamps at Homegoods, and they are the perfect size for the room.  Meg painted the end wall orange.  There is still more work to be done here.  She needs a light and a dresser, but it is getting there.  That is her yoga mat at the end of the bed, it even has birds on it.  Here is a daylight view (we hadn't found the lamps yet).

She found this record player stand at a yard sale for $3 and painted it the same color as the stripes.

Mostly everything else is from Target or Homegoods.

We found this great mirror at TJMaxx for $15.  It was originally $80, but has a small crack in the glass.  The pillows are from Target and Homegoods, and the blanket is from Pottery Barn.  She used a gift card and a coupon - that's my girl.

The ottoman and tray are from Homegoods.

The 50's style tv stand and the shelves are from Target.  The tv stand was a birthday gift.  She picked up all the frames on clearance over the last few months and has yet to put her own photos in them.  The door on the right is the door to the bathroom.

I found this antique yoke at a yardsale for $5 and hubby hung the lanterns, also from Homegoods.  Below this is the coffee bar  A girls got to have her coffee.

The table was on sale at Target, the glass jar was on clearance at TJMaxx, and the coffee set is from Marshalls.  The Keurig is from my kitchen.

Here are a few Before & Afters.

And that will do it for Megan's new space.  There are many, many more rooms to come!

    1. Hi Sandie,

We used frog tape from Home Depot. We were so nervous before removing the tape, but it came out even better than we expected. It is a little uneven, but it is an old crooked house so we deal with it! Thanks for the comment. I am having such a great time decorating this house!

    1. Hi Miss Charming,

She ordered it through Urban Outfitters online. Click on the apartment furniture tab. I'm not sure of the model number but I can get it for you if you can't find it. It was on backorder for several weeks, but it must have been a popular item because the price went up! Thanks for checking out the room, we have lots more to show over the next few weeks, I hope you'll take another peek!

    1. Aw thanks. I'm loving sharing all these comments with Megan. We share a love of decorating, but a very different style. Her room is so much brighter than the rest of my house. Keep working on the boyfriend - maybe he will come around!!!??!! Anywhooo, the couch is from Urban Outfitters, and was $595 I think. It was the lowest price we could find for any sofa similar to this. Good luck!
